Naturopathy developed in
Europe in the eighteenth century and came into prominence because of
its opposition to the rise of allopathy (western medicine), with
it’s bleedings, purging’s and use of crude drugs. The message from
the early Naturopaths was clear, there are no diseases, only
mistakes in the habits of living.
Essentially, the Human
body can be thought of as a self healing organism, given a clean
environment and wholesome foods the body will cope well.
The Western Diet and the
many stressors in our life, such as emotional or mental concerns, a
build up of metabolic wastes, residue from foods and other
environmental sources can congest the body. When this occurs the
cells and tissue of the body becomes morbid and degenerative. As
this occurs the body is open to invasion from various pathogens and
illness sets in.
Naturopathy seeks to
determine the underlying cause of illness and treat a person with a
wholistc approach. In doing so I will take into account the
physical, mental and emotional state of each person as an
individual. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and without a
healthy mind, there will be no healthy body.
A Naturopath provides
informative knowledge that focuses on clean living habits and living
in unity with our environment. Our environment is also considered to
be our physical body, therefore, it is imperative that our channels
of elimination, such as the lungs, bowel or kidneys are functioning
effectively. Thus preventing an accumulation of metabolic waste or
residues.
During the Naturopathic
consultation I may use any one of my modalities which consist of;
Naturopathic Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Complex Homoeopathic
remedies, Iridology or Remedial Massage. In doing so, I am able to
offer a comprehensive understanding of the person with their
individual complaints along with a wide choice of treatment options.
