I
hope that by giving you a little of my background you will be
able to have a more complete picture of who I am and how my life
experiences, values and beliefs fit in with my role as a
provider of wholistic and realistic health advice.
I
was born in Albany and spent most of my youth and early adult
life living and working in the local area. I believe that this
has allowed me well to understand the nature of the stresses and
strains that people living in Regional areas have to face and
how these can lead to unique issues with one’s health.
Albany’s pristine and rugged beauty inspired in me a love of
nature that found its expression in becoming involved with many
outdoor physical activities such as mountain bike riding, scuba
diving and photography.
In undertaking these activities I became aware of the need to
take special care of my physical body. As I experienced my own
personal health issues, I realized that I would like to know
more about how the human body could function at it’s optimal
levels. This was especially so after suffering work related
injuries that failed to respond to treatment from conventional
medical methods.
An awakening of interest occurred in how to achieve and maintain
vitality and vigorous health using traditional and natural
modalities that worked at preventing disease at their most basic
source.
After maintaining an amateur interest for some years I was able
to enroll in the University Of Western Sydney’s Bachelor of
Health Science degree course in 1998.
At this time I was a single Dad living in
the suburbs of Sydney with my two children then aged 9 and 6.
Despite the challenge of balancing all these competing demands
on my attention I found the studies rewarding and motivating
especially as I was able to put the pieces of the health jigsaw
together – both for my children and myself.
I
completed my studies in 2001 with a Bachelor of Health Science
degree and for which I received membership of the Golden Key
International Honour Society, for academic excellence. On the
way I also received Diplomas in Nutrition, Botanic Medicine and
Remedial Massage.
As a mature age student I had to be very clear about my aims and
aspirations in order to be able to arrange my efforts around the
needs of my children and myself.
I still maintain this outlook and take care to make sure that
work is balanced with rest and recreation. I aim to maintain a
high level of fitness as the best preventative form of health
care that I can invest in.
I
believe that the experience has taught me to be realistic in my
goal setting and yet motivated to proceed towards achieving a
professional outcome.
It is this outlook that I bring to the execution of my practice
here in Albany.
My mission in Albany is to bring wholistic, cost effective
natural health therapies to the local community with the
professional excellence expected of a Degree Trained
practitioner.
